Welcome to Brainrot! This guide walks you through everything you need to go from download to your first screen time goal in under five minutes.
Step 1: Download the app
Brainrot is available for free on the App Store. Search for "Brainrot" or tap the link to download it directly.
Step 2: Grant Screen Time permissions
When you first open Brainrot, you'll be asked to allow access to your Screen Time data. This is required for the app to track your usage and enable app blocking.
To grant access:
- Tap Allow when prompted
- Follow the on-screen instructions to enable Screen Time in your iPhone's Settings if it isn't already on
- Return to Brainrot — your data should appear within a few seconds
If you accidentally denied the permission, go to Settings > Screen Time > App & Website Activity and make sure it's turned on, then reopen Brainrot.
Step 3: Set up your first blocking rule
Head to the Blocking tab and create your first rule. Pick the apps you want to block and choose either a scheduled time window or an all-day block.
A good starting point: block your biggest time-sink apps (social media, short-form video) during the evening or first thing in the morning. These are the times most people lose time to mindless scrolling.
